5 Elements of a Winning Landing Page

Hi everyone!

landing page imageContinuing on where we left off last time, I jotted down some important features of a landing page to help you create one that is cool and a sure winner – that is if you still haven’t designed
one.

As usual, this is still in my ongoing desire to help you become a better online marketer.

Here it goes:

5 Elements of a Landing Page

USP (Unique Selling Point)

landing page image 2This segment of your landing page contains your main headline, supporting headline, the reinforcement statement and the closing statement.

The Hero Shot

This is the visual representation of your solution. It may come in the form of an image or photo, or much better yet, if you can prepare a short video clip, the better. This is where the synopsis or the gist of your solution is stated in an entertaining fashion.

The Benefits of your Solution

landing pageEnumerating the benefits of your solution is always vital in the creation of your landing page. Of course you want to seal the deal and have your prospects opt in or buy from you.

Presenting them in a bullet form is always a good practice. It’s also an accepted practice to include the details of your solution as well.

Social Proof

If there’s a powerful persuasive concept in your landing page, then it’s this one. Adding testimonials or social proof is another key element that adds a powerful hook to your claim. Adding at least 5 short testimonies from satisfied customers will further add weight on your landing page. It’s also cool if customer’s photos are included in their testimonies.

Call-to-Action (CTA)

call to action imageAlways aim for a single conversion goal. Focus all your efforts in creating a winning CTA form.

This is where the rubber meets the road.  How you position, design and what it says all plays an important part.

It’s important to articulate what your prospects will be getting once the click. Try to refrain from using “CLICK HERE or SUBMIT.”

Be more specific, try something like “Get your 7-days free trial”.

Creating or designing your landing page is an art in itself, be creative but most importantly, be informative. Don’t forget to lay it out in an easy-to-read manner. It might just be the seal dealer you are hoping for.

Landing Page 101

Hi everyone!

A landing page forms an integral part of your online marketing site as it is “lands” your visitor
example of landing pagesto where you want them to go next.

Usually this happens when a reader clicks to your online marketing’s call-to-action. The landing page is a standalone page with a single focused objective.

There are two classifications of landing page – the Lead generation and the Click through.

Classifications of a Landing Page

Lead Generation Landing Page

The lead generation landing page is used to capture vital information about your visitor like his lead gen page imagename, contact details and email address.

This piece of information is needed to further continue the communication through emails.

Oftentimes, once the permission (via filling out the lead generation form) is given to proceed, the “lead” or prospect is convinced to convert into a customer by offering him “x-deals” and freebies. These are addition hooks that the online marketer can employ to seal the deal.

Some of these freebies include:

  • Webinar registration
  • Discount coupon/voucher
  • Free trial
  • A physical gift (via direct mail)
  • Notification of a future product launch
  • Consultation for professional services
  • Contest entry

The Click Through

click through image The conduit between your marketing ad and it’s final destination.

The click through landing page’s main objective is to successfully convince potential customers to click through another page, which usually is the CTA or call-to-action.

Typically, the click through page should land on the shopping cart or registration page. This is ideal as it forms an essential part of your sales funnel.

Finally

Structuring these two important pages is crucial, the message should be cut out in an obvious fashion. The page should also be laid out in a way that will maximum readability.

There are elements that make up a good landing page, may it be the Lead gen or Click through, but always remember this valuable saying ” NEVER START A  MARKETING CAMPAIGN WITHOUT A DEDICATED LANDING PAGE”.

If your marketing website does not have a landing page, then you are missing a lot of possible conversion. Create one now.

3 Geo-Targeting Tips for the newbie

Hi everyone!

One effective tool that you can employ to maximize your conversion rate is by using geo-targeting. Now for the uninformed, geo-targeting is defined as a marketing strategy wherein geo-targetingcontents are delivered to specific group of website visitors by using their locations such as country, state, region, zip code, IP address, organization or even other categories.

It can be considered as a more refined and defined marketing approach because you already know who your focus target is.

This is much better because you can then decide what content to share and how you can reach out to them to get the best results.

So how do you go about using geo-targeting?

Here’s a timely tip:

Geo-marketing Tips just for you

Research

considerBefore embarking on your geo-targeting campaign, it is prudent to do a quick mind check.

Ask yourself this question – where did most of your sales orders came from?

This will allow you to pinpoint which location is going to be viable and ideal for the marketing campaign that you want to launch via geo-targeting.

Be Location Relevant

geo-relevantTuning into the native vernacular of a certain location will make your ads and landing pages hit the bull’s eye every time.

Get in tuned with the “street lingo”. Like for example, they don’t call “hero” sandwiches in Philadelphia but rather “grinders.”

Furthermore, if you want your ads to really stand out, use a word that would really mark it as a geo-targeted ad. For example  “Swiss Cheese in Switzerland” would do better than just “Swiss cheese for sale”.

Start small then expand

residual income 2It’s wise to smart a small campaign with geo-targeting. What would generally be acceptable is to do a 5 to 10 run.

You can then reiterate, refine, and once effective repeat the campaign. In this way you can avoid being overwhelmed and spreading your efforts too thin.

Again, let me reiterate, with any marketing campaign, start small, test the waters then once you get a favorable result, that’s the only time you go all out.

Geo-targeting offers a lot of advantages. It is also an effective campaign that is being used by a lot of internet marketers.  You can start integrating this to your strategy as well. Don’t be afraid to experiment and mix things around.

Remember those who never failed have never tried. See you next time!

What About the About Us Page?

Hi everyone!

One of the most neglected and probably unnoticed but a great show window to your site is the about us page.

about us logoOkay before you go off and start editing what you have scribbled down there, let me give you some excellent pointers on how to structure your about us page.

So without further ado, let’s start the ball rolling.

Here it is:

The about us page

State the Facts

just the facts imageTo avoid sounding like you actually are bragging, offer a straightforward description of your achievements, skills and probably even endorsements. Don’t forget to add awards and past successes.

What usually happens is that some people tend to overdo or hype up their about us page. This might actually put off readers especially those discerning and tenured ones.

Ease off on the “gas” and just state the facts as they are. Avoid too much sugarcoating or window dressing.

Who is Your Target Audience?

target market imageIt’s smart to actually visualize who your readers are going to be. Target your prospective customers. Try to construct an about us page that is geared towards this focus market. Give them the “impression” that they “accidentally” found you.

Just as any other form of media is designed with the viewers in mind, your about us page should speak the language of your visitors.

Get Personal

personal imageGetting someone to write the about us page for you may not actually work in your favor because it might come off as sounding stiff and insincere.

Why? Because most probably he will be using the second person’s point of view.

Besides, no one knows what you do or your business better than YOU. So, sit down and start constructing what you want your visitors to know.

Use a conversational and friendly tone, this will attract readers better than by using a corporate type tone. Speak with passion about what your mission is. Always be sincere and imagine addressing just a single reader – in short be personal.

Describe your Values

values imageYour values will immediately inform readers if you are worth doing business with – not just your skills and experiences.

Explain your values. Moreover, if you have a charitable fund drive in your business, mentioned it here as well.

Mentioning it here means this is NOT just all about making yourself filthy rich but that you actually have a program for your corporate social responsibility.

An about us page is your readers’ peek into THE REAL you,  so make it count. There it is, when constructing your about us page, it pays to consider all these factors.

7 Social Media Marketing Mistakes

Hi everyone!

In the early stages of my social media marketing campaign I often struggle to find the most applicable and most effective strategy or strategies that I can use.

marketing planThis would always result to falling into a pitfall and you know what’s even worse? I’d fall over and over into the same ditch time and again.

It’s definitely easy to mess up and get lost into messing up again and again.

Thankfully I was able to rectify my mistakes and was able launched a more streamlined and effective social media marketing campaign.

Now I’ll be sharing the mistakes I did before in the hope that you’ll steer clear of them.

Here it goes.

Social Media Marketing Mistakes

Focusing on Number of Followers

followersTry to target connections that will be beneficial to your business. It’s them you want to focus on anyway.

Don’t just click and connect.

Be forward-looking. Connect with those that you can do business with in the future.

Irregular Posting of Unrelated Content

More than 170million people buy product online every year. Posting unrelated content without irregularity will only leave you in the dust and in the dark. Moreover you can actually even lose your followers this way.

Forgetting to Convert Followers into Paying Customers

conversionDid you know that roughly around 12 percent of total social media viewers that encounter your ads are likely to buy?

A highly shared post means nothing if it’s not asking viewers to make the sale.

 No Strategy

Operating an online business without any social media strategy is like fighting a battle with one hand tied behind your back. I can’t overemphasize the importance of having an active social media marketing campaign.

Spamming

Self-explanatory I suppose? Spamming is really not a strategy anyway. It’s more akin to being a nuisance.

Announcing the Same Message on Multiple Channels

multiple channelsMuch like having your own branding concepts, different platforms have their own distinct way of getting the message across their respective community.

If you want to be effective on this, then learn how each platform execute theirs.

You might piss off your most loyal followers having multiple channels if they see the same exact message promoted across multiple channels don’t you think?

Brand Has no Personality

brand personalityWhether you have a smiling clown, or an old man with a mustache that defines your brand, still your brand has to have its personality.

This will separate you from the “faceless, lifeless and bland crowd”. A logo or a symbol will instantly inform your viewers who you are and what your business is all about.

There you go folks!

Have fun with your social media campaign!

5 Tips on How to Write a Killer Headline

Headline titles are more important than most writers would care to assume. In fact, the viability of having your article read lies on how catchy your headline reads. The catchier the better.

So how do you do it?

skyOne important factor to remember is to always ask yourself “why would I want to read this article?”

If you can answer that convincingly with your headline, go on. If not, write another one and another until you have in your hands the best possible version.

I’ve compiled 5 do-able and practical tips to help you write a catchy and killer marketing headline. This is in accordance with my ongoing effort to help you become a better online marketer.

5 Headline Tips and Tricks

Use Numbers

eThe mind can easily “see and recognize” figures. This spatial recognition is so effective that wherever you go, numbers will almost always jump out instantly. Look around you and you will notice that numbers are everywhere.

For best practice, use somewhere between 1 to 5 to enumerate your headline with tips or what-have-yous, it works.

Use Picturesque or Interesting Adjectives

adA headline without any adjective is doom to fail. Use adjectives that are easy to understand and must be catchy. Some of these are the following:

  • Essential
  • Incredible
  • Free
  • Easy
  • Important
  • Fun

Use Rationale

This is effective if you are going to do a list post. You can use the following words.

  • Facts
  • Ideas
  • Lessons
  • Principles
  • Reasons
  • Secrets
  • Tricks
  • Ways

One cautious word of advice – please don’t ever use the word things. I know you can do a lot better than that.

Use Trigger Words

What, why, who, when, and how are considered as trigger words. They define your headline and immediately “cast the net” on the target audience. Trigger words are effective when you are trying to persuade or you want to enable your readers.

Make a bold Promise

promAlways remember your initial and most important goal – have readers read your article. Readers will always ask “what’s in it for me?” If you can successfully address that query, you have reached your goal.

Making a promise is a sure way to catch their attention. Make it bold or audacious but not to the point that you are fooling them. That’s a major no-no.

Likewise you can promise your readers about something valuable. It can be learning a new skill, trying out a new brand of soap or asking him to do something for the first time and what they will get out from it.

They key point to remember is that you are asking your readers to read your article.

Finally

Now, let’s put our headline writing formula to the test, try this:

50 Ways to Leave your Lover – yeah it’s a song I know, but it’ll real catchy.  How about “How to lose 2 kilos in 2 weeks”.

All in all, you can’t force your readers to read something that is really boring. They want to be informed and entertained. Make it worth their time. Start with the headline.
