It’s best to grow natural links. This translates to endless hours of work but will prove valuable in the end.

Links work because they give “weight” or importance to your site. This happens  when readers link to your website or the other way around. Both of the “linkee” and “linker” benefits from the linking.

7 Social Media Marketing Mistakes

Hi everyone!

In the early stages of my social media marketing campaign I often struggle to find the most applicable and most effective strategy or strategies that I can use.

marketing planThis would always result to falling into a pitfall and you know what’s even worse? I’d fall over and over into the same ditch time and again.

It’s definitely easy to mess up and get lost into messing up again and again.

Thankfully I was able to rectify my mistakes and was able launched a more streamlined and effective social media marketing campaign.

Now I’ll be sharing the mistakes I did before in the hope that you’ll steer clear of them.

Here it goes.

Social Media Marketing Mistakes

Focusing on Number of Followers

followersTry to target connections that will be beneficial to your business. It’s them you want to focus on anyway.

Don’t just click and connect.

Be forward-looking. Connect with those that you can do business with in the future.

Irregular Posting of Unrelated Content

More than 170million people buy product online every year. Posting unrelated content without irregularity will only leave you in the dust and in the dark. Moreover you can actually even lose your followers this way.

Forgetting to Convert Followers into Paying Customers

conversionDid you know that roughly around 12 percent of total social media viewers that encounter your ads are likely to buy?

A highly shared post means nothing if it’s not asking viewers to make the sale.

 No Strategy

Operating an online business without any social media strategy is like fighting a battle with one hand tied behind your back. I can’t overemphasize the importance of having an active social media marketing campaign.

Spamming

Self-explanatory I suppose? Spamming is really not a strategy anyway. It’s more akin to being a nuisance.

Announcing the Same Message on Multiple Channels

multiple channelsMuch like having your own branding concepts, different platforms have their own distinct way of getting the message across their respective community.

If you want to be effective on this, then learn how each platform execute theirs.

You might piss off your most loyal followers having multiple channels if they see the same exact message promoted across multiple channels don’t you think?

Brand Has no Personality

brand personalityWhether you have a smiling clown, or an old man with a mustache that defines your brand, still your brand has to have its personality.

This will separate you from the “faceless, lifeless and bland crowd”. A logo or a symbol will instantly inform your viewers who you are and what your business is all about.

There you go folks!

Have fun with your social media campaign!

7 Common SEO Mistakes Every Web Marketer Should Never Do

Hi everyone!

Let’s face it, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) technique is not EASY for everyone. While some guys may be good at it, most of us newbie marketers are left groping in the dark and biting our nails.

Still in keeping with my ongoing objective of helping you out, I’ve recently updated my list of the MOST common SEO mistakes that newbie marketers often do and how to avoid them.

7 Common SEO Mistakes

Keyword Stuffing

keywordThis refers to unnaturally padding your blogpost with keywords that may or may not be relevant to the subject at hand.

This is unethical and can often lead to your site’s being flagged down and worse –penalized by major search engines!

Being Spammy

spammyAgain, loading your blogpost with keywords but with little content to back it up is like shooting an arrow to the moon.

It’s unrealistic and will get you nowhere. You need to be smart with the use of keywords even if they’re on-topic.

There should be enough word count to make it really count. One word of advice though, be sure that it reads smart and loaded with real info. Word count alone will not cut it as well.

Focusing on Keyword Density

densityIf you’ll notice, there’s already a recurring theme here – the use of keywords. While keywords are really essential it’s not smart to overuse them.

Keyword density refers to the number of times a specific keyword is repeated or appears in a blog post. Don’t aim for a certain number density anymore like what was acceptable a couple of years back.

The search engines are evolving in an effort to weed out the phonies. It is outdated and doesn’t work anymore.

Spamdexing

dexingSpamdexing involves repeating an unrelated phrase or phrases in an effort to trick the search engines.

Well guess what, search engines nowadays have a better way of detecting whether or not the content of a blogpost is relevant to the search term or not.

Beware, the moderators will be inclined to remove you from the search engines when they discover that you are actually spamdexing.

Link-bait-and-switching

linkLink-bait-and-switching is a technique whereby a link is added to a word and that link leads your reader to something totally unrelated. This is also unethical and will cause your readers to mistrust you.

Not being Patient

“Patience is a virtue” so goes the saying. It’s true. Even with this technological advancement, patience still has its rewards. Proper SEO can’t be established overnight. You need to give time to those web CRAWLERS to find your content and establish your online reputation.

Shallow Content

Always write content with value. Search engines have a way of telling whether what you are actually putting out is all fluff and no real value. Your content must have value to back up the keywords you use.

Inbound Marketing is in!

Hey everyone!

If you’re wondering what’s the in thing with regards to internet marketing, well, this is it – Inbound Marketing!

inbound marketingInbound marketing is the process of earning a person’s interest as opposed to buying it.

This involves writing relevant contents, using effective social media campaigns, webinars/podcasts, SEO approaches and white papers which saves you a lot of cash in the process as compared to outbound marketing.

Inbound marketing seeks to inform, educated and sometimes even entertain. Its actually a noninvasive approach wherein people are actually drawn to your brand and converts them into lasting customers –  sort of like what attraction marketing is, but waaayyy better as other platforms and applications are integrated in the process.

How many times have you left unopened emails? Or perhaps included your telephone numberinbound in the DO NOT CALL LIST? or perhaps even unsubscribe from an email? I bet you even skipped A LOT of TV and Youtube ads?

Outbound marketing is quickly losing its charm! People are getting sick and tired being bombarded left and right with irrelevant products and services.

Inbound Marketing

One key point to always remember is that you have to develop a positive connection with the consumer. This will likely make him engage and may even buy from you.

inbound marketing image 2With outbound marketing, what happens is that the consumer feels intruded every time you market your brand. This is really prevalent on Youtube. (There’s that 5 second countdown on the bottom right hand side of the screen.)

This simply doesn’t help. NOT A BIT. I bet you click that ad off after the 5 seconds countdown is over right? See what I mean.

Inbound marketing entices your consumer to come looking for you. You don’t seek them out. They come to you. This happens with continuous production of great and relevant contents that provide much needed value.inbound marketing 3

Inbound marketing is a multi channel approach because it gets to where the people are and the channel where they want to interact with you. These channels can be through keyword search, blogs, social media and others.

If you are tired of putting out cash on your cold calling technique or even promo ads, why not try using the Inbound Marketing approach?

More on this next time, stay tuned!
