Hi everyone!
Today let’s take a closer look on the importance of using a call to action or most commonly referred to as CTA.
But first, let us define what a CTA is. According to most online marketing articles, a CTA is an image or text prompts that encourages your readers to take a journey or more particularly – a user journey.
A CTA is also an effective element in generating sales leads that is a result of your marketing campaign. Your marketing campaign can include all content, press release, social media updates, email blast and even blog posts.
Having a clear and precise CTA statement usually converts prospective customers into solid sales leads! Now, you might be asking is there an ideal way to construct your CTA? Or should a CTA be always be the same regardless of the product or solution that you are offering?
I’ve written down a few reminders on what you should consider when constructing your CTA statement.
Here it is:
Call to Action Tips
Make it Relevant
Making your CTA relevant to all your readers is not an easy feat – but it is essential if you want them to respond.
You have to take into consideration the level of your reader, a new visitor’s behavior is a lot different from your longtime follower.
Structure your CTA in such a way that it can cater to all types of your site readers.
Avoid “click here” or “submit” CTA
Stay away from using the generic “click here” and “submit” buttons.
Remember you want your readers to go on a journey. Use snappy language to encourage them to take that journey with you.
Employ verbs instead of adverbs and images that encourages people to “take action” or “get started”.
Avoid Jargons
In my years of constructing CTAs, I found out that the simplest tend to be the most effective in converting prospects into customers. Avoid using technical and hard-to-understand CTAs as this may turn a lot of people off, much worse, confuse them altogether.
Keep it Short
Keeping your CTA between 100-150 characters is the sweet spot.
As the attention span of most readers today get shorter and shorter due to spamming and the proliferation of crappy content online, it’s wise to go direct to the point.
Give them a snapshot of what they’re getting into and please spare them the run-around.
Constructing an effective CTA might be all that you need to get all the leads you been dreaming of. You can browse other articles that will enable you to learn more.
